100 Years Ago Students Marched...

On October 28, 1922 UBC students marched through the streets of Vancouver to pressure the government to resume construction of the Point Grey Campus.

To this day "The Great Trek" stands as one of the greatest examples of the influence students at UBC have when they work together to get something done. And while The Great Trek is hugely significant, it's only one example of the ways UBC students have shaped the fabric of the Point Grey Campus and society as a whole.

From building playing fields and gymnasiums to fighting for abortion rights in Canada, UBC students have led the way. We gathered just a few of these stories here for you to read but there are lots more which we hope to uncover soon.

We acknowledge that UBC students marched to the traditional, unceded, ancestral territory of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking Musqueam peoples. It is our privilege to be allowed to work and learn on these sacred lands
